Hello, my name is Cindy Poulsen and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a supervising therapist here at Bozeman Therapy & Counseling
I am passionate about my work with individuals, couples and families using the highly effective Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) model, which simply put, is a map for identifying patterns of behavior and emotions that keep people stuck and then adding education and tools to move into a more satisfying way of living and enjoying life.
I keep my client load small so I can focus on you and be fully present and authentic in session. I have seen amazing transformations in people and it’s absolutely inspiring to see clients move from being stuck to creating the life they’ve always wanted.
In addition to individual and relational well-being, my background includes working as a Medical Social Worker in the hospital and emergency room setting. I have a significant background in sudden unexpected crises and ensuing trauma including grief and loss. If you are experiencing an end-of-life diagnosis, transitioning from independent living to skilled nursing care and/or hospice services, the impact of suicide, infertility, fetal demise, or chronic illness challenges, I am ready to compassionately walk with you on this journey of living life well in the face of navigating hard to seemingly insurmountable challenges. There is hope for feeling peace and joy if all seems lost.
My educational background includes a BA in Social Work from the University of Montana, MSW from Walla Walla University, Missoula, MT campus, and Licensure as an LCSW through the Montana Board of Behavioral Health. Specialty trainings include EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) for individuals and couples.
I’m a safe person for LGBTQIA concerns and challenges.
I’ve been married for 36 years with three grown children and three grandchildren. I enjoy anything outdoors, particularly backpacking and sleeping under the stars, most sports, reading good books next to a warm fire, potato chips, friendships, and our Bernese Mountain dog, “Odin, the Benevolent Guardian”.
I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation to answer any questions you may have about working with me or the therapeutic process.
