Hello, my name is Sarah Martinez.
It is my belief that counseling can be beneficial for all people no matter their age, race, religion, gender identity, ethnicity, or orientation. Every person has a unique life experience and I strive to utilize cultural sensitivity with all clients from varying backgrounds; tailoring the counseling experience for each client.
I believe that counseling is a collaborative process and I strive to empower clients to create goals that represent the changes they would like to see in their life. Counseling can be a difficult process and I believe that through the power of the therapeutic relationship, lasting change can be achieved. Open and transparent communication and a willingness to work hard is critical in the counseling process.
As a military/veteran caregiver for 12+ years, I understand the various challenges faced by those who care for others. I have extensive experience working with Veteran caregivers and their families. I have a background in working with teenagers, couples in mixed race relationships, and those suffering with grief and bereavement.
Originally from southern California, I have called Montana my home for 10 years. I am a graduate of Montana State University’s Marriage, Couples, and Family counseling program. I primarily use the evidence-based approaches of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and mindfulness techniques to guide my counseling.
