Hello, my name is Ellie Jorgensen and I counsel using practices of Child-Centered Play Therapy and Emotionally Focused Family Therapy. Having years of experience working with children in the home, schooling, social, and clinical settings, I am practiced at attuning to and engaging with children and their families. Additionally, with a background in special needs case management, I have experience working with needs of all types and ranges. I am practiced in using assistive technology, such as communication or mobility devices, and collaborating with 504/IEP school teams.*
Working from an attachment perspective, I ultimately view our world through the relationships we experience. This influences both my philosophy and practice of counseling, which is that people need support from themselves and their family, friends, and community in order to thrive. In my practice, I hold a strong belief that working with children means working with families. For that reason, it is my goal to create inclusive and collaborative counseling with both parents and children.
Graduating from Montana State University with a degree in marriage, couples, and family counseling, I am capable of working with individuals, couples, and families, but tend to focus on counseling children. Children have both strange and fascinating views of the world, and they always expand my own thinking and feelings about life. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with my partner and practicing tap dancing!
